Lexington Place Civic Corporation was
originally established on August 2, 1988.
Since the organization's
founding many improvements to
the sub-division have taken place. Everything from planting
trees on De Bouchel Blvd., creating gardens,
building the entrance wall, holiday decorating, enforcing covenants,
to
working with parish government was made possible by years of hard
working, dedicated LPCC members. Pre-Katrina Lexington Place was
known for spectacular neighborhood events.
Halloween, Christmas lights, a Mardi Gras Parade, an LPCC 5K Run and an
Easter Egg Hunt brought neighbors together annually for fun and
fundraising. We thank all past officers and members who made
valuable contributions to our establishment as a premier neighborhood.
Post-Katrina
efforts have included re-establishing membership and the newsletter,
restoring the entrance wall, purchasing a digital information wall,
planting Bradford pear trees along the boulevard, reporting blighted
properties, and monitoring residential census data. Neighbors now
gather annually for a "members only" Crawfish Boil. Our
Neighborhood Watch efforts include a weekly bike ride along LPCC
streets. And, we love to gather for Christmas Caroling!
The greatest
efforts since our complete devastation on August 29, 2005 have been that
of our resilient home owners restoring their homes. As 21st
century "pioneers," we have shown a deep commitment to RETURN, REBUILD,
and REMAIN in St. Bernard Parish.
This organization needs
all
residents to keep re-building efforts strong. Please consider
joining today by clicking on the Membership
Form tab. Membership dues are $50 per year collected in
February. If you have any questions please contact your Block
Captain or an Officer by clicking on the Board
Members tab. Click on the Home
tab to see your officers. Officers are pictured for your
convenience in recognizing us as we drive through the neighborhood.
Newsletters are
delivered to members every other month by Block Captains. E-mail updates
are sent to those who provide their address on the membership
application form. LPCC membership meetings are held at 7:00pm on
the 3rd Thursday every other month at Joseph Davies Elementary School,
4101 Mistrot Drvie.
The magic of a
great neighborhood depends on our combined efforts to maintain neat
yards & driveways, to keep vehicles off of the median, to report all
piles of debris, to watch out for and meet neighbors AND to join the
Lexington Place Civic Corporation. Whether you're a returning
homeowner or a brand new homeowner we welcome you to our neighborhood.
We're proud to be LPCC!
